Seattle Seahawks Doug Baldwin was selected this week as the NFC’s top performing Special Teams player for Week 14 of the NFL season.

Doug Baldwin claimed the special teams award in Seattle’s 30-13 win over St. Louis on Monday night. He blocked a punt, downed another at the six-yard line and returned a kickoff for 37 yards.
That’s all he did on special teams but the rookie WR also had seven catches for 93 yards with a touchdown.
Per Mike Sando’s ESPN West Blog. NFC West players have now won five of the 14 weekly NFC honors for special-teams contributions.
What a special season this has been for the undrafted free agent out of Stanford. First he made the team now he’s on the verge of making NFL history.
Baldwin Wins Week 15 Special Teams player of the week in the NFC
He can become the first rookie since 1960 to lead a team in both receptions and receiving yardage. I’d say he’s a “keeper” wouldn’t you? Nice pick up Pete & John.
Baldwin now has 45 catches for 718 yards and 3 touchdowns. Not bad statistics for a receiver that wasn’t really a primary options for the team coming out of training camp.
Baldwin is the third Seahawk player to be honored this season. Chris Clemons, and David Hawthorne were the first Seahawks earlier this year to receive weekly awards.
It’s obvious to me that Baldwin should get strong consideration for Rookie of the Year honors on offense.
Now Cam Newton is obviously having a special year, but Baldwin deserves to at least be in the conversation.
